Blessed be God, who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble.

2 Cor 1:3-4

Healing Starts Now

Swept Under the Rug exists to shine light on the patterns of spiritual and emotional abuse that are too often hidden behind polished pulpits and closed church doors.

Here, you’ll find:

  • Testimonies: Real experiences, in the words of those who lived them.

  • Narcissism & Spiritual Abuse: Information to help you understand the traits and tactics that keep abusive systems hidden.

  • Resources: Tools and support for recognizing unhealthy spiritual dynamics and finding your way to healing.

This site is about truth-telling, awareness, and freedom for people who feel trapped and alone. If you see your story reflected here, know that you are not crazy, you are not alone — and there is a way out.

Meet the Luckettas

Hi, we’re the Luckettas—Joe, Christine, Noah, and Alexis! Our home is a lively mix of family, pets: two dogs, plus three parrots, and even a 250-gallon reef tank filled with multiple fish and coral. Originally from California’s central valley, we spent some time in Georgia before moving back to Fair Oaks in 2016 to be closer to family. Fun fact: Christine grew up in Peachtree City, GA, and when she joined the FAA as an air traffic controller, her very first assignment landed her right back in her hometown!

When we’re not tending to our “miniature zoo,” you’ll find us biking, paddle-boarding, or camping. At home, we love board games, homeschooling our kids through Classical Conversations, and serving in our church, Pioneer Baptist. We thank the Lord daily for His salvation and strive to fill our lives with what’s true, good, and beautiful - whether that’s through fellowship with our church family, serving our homeschool community, or simply enjoying the life God has given us. And here’s a quirky tidbit: neither of us were actually present at our own wedding! While I was deployed in the Middle East and Christine was in Georgia training for the FAA, we tied the knot through a double-proxy marriage in South Dakota.

About Under the Rug

This site began with my own experience under Roger Jimenez at Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento, California — an experience that, in my view, reflects troubling patterns of control and manipulation masked as spiritual authority. Everything shared here reflects my personal recollections, observations, and sincerely held opinions.

But this site is bigger than my testimony alone. Swept Under the Rug is here to give voice to others who have quietly carried the same wounds — families, individuals, and former members who have stories to tell but no safe place to tell them. My hope is that by sharing openly, others will find the courage to come forward, break the silence, and stand together for truth and real accountability.

All content on this site reflects personal experiences, memories, and sincerely held opinions, shared in good faith and to the best of our knowledge. This site is intended for awareness, education, and healing, and is not meant to defame, harass, or misrepresent any person or organization.
